Civic Club Raffles Off 'Custom Engine' BBQ Grill
We recently raffled off this custom BBQ grill to raise funds for our Scholarship Program for seniors at West Ouachita High School.

Civic Club Elects New Officers for 2015
On Monday night, January 12, 2015 the Calhoun Civic Club elected a new group of officers for the next year.
Janet Boutwell was chosen as our organization's first female president. She lives in Calhoun and works in the office of Indian Village Water System. We're looking forward to Janet's very capable leadership for the coming year.
Also, the Club elected M.C. Moss as Vice President and Jimmy Holton as Recording Secretary. Ladonna Matheny was chosen by acclamation to remain as our Treasurer.
May these officers lead well and produce the best year our Club has had yet!

Civic Club Guest Speaker Encourages Positive Words
John Rea of John Rea Realty recently spoke to the Club and encouraged us to spread good words about Ouachita Parish, stating that this is one of the best places in America to live.
John Rea, and others, began an initiative called "Love Your Community", which works to find the good things about our area and promote them.
The goal is to improved the economy and quality of life in this parish.

Civic Club Changes Meeting Times
The Calhoun Civic Club recently voted to change our meeting times to the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
We hope this will work better for our busy members who want to spend more time with family yet still be involved in Civic Club activities.

Civic Club Presents Four $1,000,00 Scholarships
On Monday May 5th, 2014 at 9:00 AM the Calhoun Civic Club presented scholarships in the amount of $1,000.00 each to four West Ouachita High School Seniors during the awards assembly that morning.

Civic Club Elects New President

Civic Club building a Wellness Park in Calhoun
The Calhoun Civic Club recently received a 50-year lease from the Ouachita Parish School Board concerning the football field & surrounding land behind Calhoun Elementary School (the old Calhoun High School field).
Several of our members have been working recently to improve this land and upgrade the area, making it more attractive & useful.
Our purpose is to convert this area into a Calhoun Wellness Park & walking track for use by the citizens of western Ouachita Parish. We'll post more updates later on the progress of this important project.
Gov. Bobby Jindal held town hall meeting at Civic Club
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal recently held a town hall meeting at the Calhoun Civic Club Community Center at 189 Calhoun Loop Road in Calhoun.
After speaking on various ethics issues for around 45 minutes, he then fielded questions from the audience.
Our thanks to Governor Jindal and his staff for making this visit possible.
Congressman Rodney Alexander spoke at Civic Club
Congressman Rodney Alexander, who represents Louisiana's 5th Congressional District, recently spoke at the Calhoun Civic Club's regular meeting at our Calhoun Civic Club Community Center at 189 Calhoun Loop Rd.
Congressman Alexander gave a legislative update and expressed the desire to work with our group on upcoming projects.

Elected Officials award state flag to Calhoun Civic Club
Many thanks to Senator Bob Kostelka, Representative Jim Fannin and Police Juryman Mack Calhoun for presenting the Civic Club with a Louisiana state flag to fly over our new Community Center. We appreciate these public servants and we thank them for the support they've given to great civic projects in our area, including the Community Center.
